Established in 1993 by the merging of Partizans CC and Charlton CC, the Charlatans are perhaps the creme de la creme of cricket in South East London. Rarely has such a diverse collection of teachers, media types, civil servants, paddies and new aristocracy come together each season for the sporting pleasures attached to the conjoining of willow and leather. They are based at Garrison Field in Woolwich, whose recently improved skyline appears below.

O f f i c e   b e a r e r s

Co-captains: Simon Hall, Paul Ricketts

Treasurer: Peter Daw

Fixtures Secretary: Maurice Cassidy

The Team

Simon Hall

New Zealand import and opening bat, frequently sending balls down under. Seems to take more catches than anyone else.

          Colin Thomas

Expert on the ballistics of the leathery sphere, has applied his leadership skills to the noble band of brothers you see before you. His firepower is truly awesome.

Paul Ricketts

An active force behind the stumps, Paul can deliver the runs in front of them too, as his recent statistics attest. Promoted to Co-Captain for these and other faults.

 Tim Cousins

Often as not, an opening bat. A real demon with spin bowlers.

 Tony Dyson

Likes to spy on bowlers' technique from the pavilion, then comes in and wallops them for 30 at the end of the middle order. Deft bowler.

Pete Daw

A dynamic fielder and useful with the bat, young Pete has a great Charlatans career ahead of him. And a photo.

 John Curtis-Brignell

This JCB excavates a deep crease, and has been known to stay there for a while.

 Brian Hill

Have you attended his renowned batting clinic? No? Probably because he's just had your middle stump for lunch.

Maurice Cassidy

If you're not out first ball to this wily bowler, well, you'll never be out....

Tom Wilmot

Ex-Captain, now an occasional player. More frequently to be found landing a fine salmon on the west coast of Ireland, or hitting golf balls into trout streams in Clonakilty.

 Malcolm Stubbins

Stubberini, Stubbatso - Malcolm is short of neither surnames nor wickets. Beware his line. length, and curry after-effects...

 Pete Stephens

Very few deliveries get past eagle-eyed Stephens. Those that do tend to be cases of Hermitage '73 that come in the back door.

 hk

 Keith Hicks

Catching specialist and, a rare thing on the team, a man who produces sons rather than daughters.

hd

 "Trigger" Hicks

Current youth policy and hope for the future. Much rests on his forward defensive....

 Dipak Pindoriya

Not unlike an Apache helicopter in his bowling attack, Dipak still has potential with the bat waiting to be realised.

Tim Joyce

Ex Co-captain. Has made 154 runs in the past, although this was against Croydon Taxi Drivers Under 16s (2nd 11). Darn good slip catcher.

          Tom Lord

A new recruit in the 2007 season. As his name suggests, Tom is something of an aristocrat with the bat..

?

          Gurj Bahra

Adept with bat and ball, Gurj has a big mark to make with his new team.

 prashant

          Prashant Bhanderi

Much promise has arrived with this dedicated new player - a grand debut beckons, and we await the perfection of his awesome looking reverse sweep.

ronnie ball

          Ronnie Ball

From zero to hero in the '08 season, Ronnie is now a commanding figure with the leathery orb.

iain

         Iain Mercer

His eye on the top ranks of the batting order, Iain is building fearsome skills with bat
         and ball.
