Result: Won by 6 wickets
The
hottest day of the year to date saw both Charlatans and old rivals Acme
crawling through M40 traffic jams to Garsington, with the match reduced
to 35 overs as a result.
Acme went in to bat, eight players having made it to the ground (the rest arriving ten overs later). All
the Charlatans bowlers kept the pressure on as the rest of the team
sweated in the field, and Acme’s 158 looked gettable. A glorious tea
matched the weather. Afterwards, Simon’s careless glove to the keeper
and Ronnie and Hemal’s lbws bracketed two fine, match-winning innings
from Pete D. and Paul as the visitors cruised to a comfortable win.
